Where’s all the clients? Let's find some.

Where’s all the clients? Let's find some.

Are you struggling to find clients?

Let's fix that. But first here's a story...

I bet you’ve heard this one before but here we go…

When we first started Boring Studios, we had no money, no clients and no idea how to run a business.

We knew we had to advertise but we had no money for SEO experts, paid ads or email-marketing services.

So we did what any brand or business can do without any resources - we made content.

And after about 8 months, that content started to perform well on Instagram.

We created an audience of like-minded peers and had more clients than we could manage.

...

In 2025, I think many businesses believe that the only way to find clients is by making content.

Social media content can be a great way to get eyes on your business, if you do it well and consistently.

But it can be overwhelming, frustrating and honestly, sometimes pointless if you’re doing it badly.

For us, social media content was a great stepping stone for our business, but it’s not the only way to find clients.

What about all the people who aren’t on social media?

We can get so wrapped up in the online world that we often forget there is a massive IRL space that has nothing to do with social media.

So let’s talk about an untapped or forgotten place to find clients - a place I used to find clients before Boring Studios.

Because when Instagram burns you out, don’t quit freelancing, just quit scrolling.

Job Platforms

I know, I know. Yuck but also… yum.

This is where clients who don’t use social media go to find a creative (YOU).

These are the clients with money; the corporate ones who will go directly to a job platform to find what they need.

Yes, maybe the work is not so interesting sometimes. But you know what's interesting? Money.

Here’s a list of places to get your profile up or to search for contract jobs.

The more you have, the closer you are to clients because clients can’t find you if you don’t exist.

Mostly for freelancers and creatives:

✔️Upwork
✔️Fiverr or Fiverr Pro
✔️Contra
✔️Toptal
✔️99designs by Vistaprint
✔️Behance (this will be mostly designers, less clients tbh)
✔️Dribbble Hiring
✔️Coroflot

Traditional Job Boards:

✔️Seek
✔️Indeed
✔️Glassdoor
✔️LinkedIn Jobs
✔️FlexJobs
✔️We Work Remotely

Okay and finally, don’t knock these till you try them.

✔️Gumtree
✔️Craigslist

My first freelance client came from Gumtree (basically Australia’s Craigslist).

Next time you’re worried about making content, don’t waste hours making videos no one watches. Try job boards instead.

...

If it's a search based like the traditional job boards, filter the search for contract or freelance roles and apply through their system.

OR if it's a profile based job platform;

  1. Make a profile with your work
Show real work if you have it. If you don’t, make fake work that proves your skills.
  2. Put in service packages
List packages clearly, and add something others don’t (like strategy with design)
  3. Add a bonus service with every purchase.
    Example: With every Visual Identity, get bonus;
    - Free Mockups
    - Free Business Card Design
It’s the small extras that make clients choose you over the next freelancer.

So next time you're looking for clients;

Stop refreshing Reels views.
Start refreshing job boards.
